The methods and systems followed by organic farming lessen its carbon footprint and mitigate climate change and global warming. Studies said that organic agriculture reduces non-renewable energy usage and thus, decreases agrochemical needs. The use of pesticides, insecticides, and synthetic fertilizers, for example, require high quantities of fossil fuel. Organic methods reduce the depletion of fossil fuels by not using such synthetic chemicals and compounds.

Such processes increase the return of carbon to the soil. The effect is better productivity and the mitigation of climate change and global warming. 

It also minimizes the energy needed to produce synthetic chemicals and fertilizers that conventional farms use on their lands. Energy consumption is minimized by 30% to 70% because there is less need to manufacture synthetic fertilizers. There are also more internal farm inputs in organic agriculture, so there is less need for fuel for transportation. 

Organic Farmers Less Affected by Climate Change

Organic farming also contributes to helping farmers adapt to climate change. Because there are more nutrients in the content and soil covers, floods and droughts are less impactful. Even land degradation processes are somewhat mitigated by organic farming methods. 

The land that organic farmers manage is also less susceptible to pests and diseases. This is because the organic method of preserving seed and crop diversity creates an environment that isn’t attractive to pests and the diseases they carry. 

The organic processes also help farmers develop new cropping systems that can adapt to climate changes. Because the soil has been naturally and organically cared for, they make it easier to adjust to changes brought about by climate change. This helps organic farmers survive better when the effects of climate change start to eat on their farms’ production.
